About this model

Just add your livery and render, it’s that easy.

The VR and VS Commodore models are part of the second generation of the Holden Commodore, a line of full-size cars produced by Holden, an Australian subsidiary of General Motors. The V8 Supercar variant of these models refers to the racing versions of the VR and VS Commodores that competed in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship, a premier touring car racing series in Australia.

VR Commodore V8 Supercar: The VR Commodore was introduced in 1993 as a successor to the VP Commodore. It was available in various trims, including the VR SS which was the performance-oriented model. In terms of the V8 Supercar variant, Holden Racing Team (HRT) fielded the VR Commodore in the Australian Touring Car Championship, the predecessor of the V8 Supercar Championship.

The VR Commodore V8 Supercar featured a 5.0-liter Holden V8 engine, producing around 620 horsepower, which was sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The car underwent aerodynamic modifications to enhance its racing performance. It competed against other touring car models, including Ford Falcons, in the highly competitive Australian motorsport scene.

VS Commodore V8 Supercar: The VS Commodore succeeded the VR model and was produced from 1995 to 1997. Like its predecessor, the VS Commodore also had a performance-oriented version known as the VS SS. In the V8 Supercar realm, Holden continued to field the VS Commodore in various teams competing in the Australian Touring Car Championship.

The VS Commodore V8 Supercar retained the 5.0-liter V8 engine, albeit with further refinements to improve power and reliability. The car’s aerodynamics and suspension were also tweaked for racing purposes. It maintained its rivalry with Ford Falcons on the racetrack, contributing to the intense competition that has characterized the Australian touring car scene for decades.

Both the VR and VS Commodore V8 Supercars played a significant role in the history of Australian motorsport. These cars, along with their predecessors and successors, contributed to the fierce rivalry between Holden and Ford, commonly referred to as the “Holden vs. Ford” battle. This rivalry has captivated motorsport enthusiasts in Australia and has been a defining aspect of the V8 Supercar Championship, which is now known as the Supercars Championship.
