The Toyota GR Cup is a single-make racing series established by Toyota Gazoo Racing North America (TGRNA) to showcase the performance capabilities of the Toyota GR86 sports car. Launched in 2023, the series is sanctioned by SRO America and features a 14-race schedule across seven prominent circuits in the United States.
The GR Cup offers drivers an accessible platform to engage in competitive racing. Each GR86 race car undergoes significant modifications to meet racing standards, including:
- Bosch engine management system
- SADEV six-speed sequential transmission
- OMP safety equipment
- Roll cage installation
- Borla exhaust system
- JRI adjustable shocks
- Alcon brakes
- 22-gallon fuel cell
- TGRNA-designed MacPherson struts
- Carbon fiber wing
- Front splitter
These enhancements ensure that all participating vehicles are uniformly equipped, emphasizing driver skill in the competition.
In addition to the on-track series, TGRNA has expanded its racing initiatives to the digital realm with the introduction of the GR Cup eSports League. Managed by SRO America, this virtual league aims to replicate the excitement and intensity of the physical GR Cup, allowing a broader audience to engage with the brand and experience the thrill of racing in a simulated environment.
The GR Cup has also attracted notable participants, including actor Keanu Reeves, who made his professional auto racing debut in the series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in October 2024.
For the 2025 season, the GR Cup continues its tradition with a 14-race schedule at seven renowned circuits across the United States, offering a total purse of one million dollars in prizes.
