One of the most significant changes is the introduction of new technical regulations, known as the “F1 2022 rules”, which aim to create closer racing and make the sport more sustainable. The new rules will bring in a ground effect aero design and the return of 18-inch wheels instead of the previous 13-inch ones.
The cars will have a simplified front wing design and new, larger rear wing with two endplates instead of three. The overall length and width of the cars will also increase slightly, as will the weight.
The power unit regulations will remain largely unchanged from the previous season, with the same 1.6-liter V6 hybrid turbo engines used by all teams.
