The Honda Civic TCR race car by JAS motorsports is a racing version of the popular Honda Civic road car, developed and built by the Italian racing team JAS motorsports. The car was first introduced in 2016, in time for the start of the TCR International Series, a global touring car championship.
JAS motorsports was chosen by Honda to develop the Civic FL5 TCR race car, as the team had a long history of working with Honda racing cars, including the Honda Civic Type R TCR, which won the TCR International Series in 2018.
The Civic TCR race car is based on the Honda Civic Type R road car, but has been heavily modified for racing. The car features a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces up to 350 horsepower, as well as a six-speed sequential gearbox, aerodynamic bodywork, and advanced suspension and braking systems.
The Civic TCR race car quickly established itself as a competitive car in the TCR International Series, with JAS motorsports drivers taking numerous podium finishes and even winning races. In 2017, the team won the TCR Europe Series, with driver Jean-Karl Vernay taking the championship title.
Since its introduction, the Civic TCR race car has been used in various touring car championships around the world, including the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) and the TCR Germany Series. It has also been used in endurance racing, including the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and the Spa 24 Hours.
